Would you want live in a trustless society? We go our entire lives trusting people around us, often strangers who we’ve never dealt with before. But rarely do we stop to think why. In this video Futurist Chris Crespo unpacks the different ways in which trust has been outsourced from individuals to central institutions and increasingly more, over to technology. We may be moving towards a system where the need for trust enabling intermediaries like Central Banks and Governments will be replaced by computer code, but what tradeoffs would we need to make at a personal and societal level for this to come about?

Chris is the Co-founder of Fast Forward Banking, a Financial Media agency that seeks to bust the jargon out of banking. As a behavioural economist he enjoys exploring questions that challenge conventional thinking. He is fascinated with innovation and technology and its intersection with financial services, society, and culture. Chris is also a guest lecturer at Stanford University and Singularity University where he teaches regularly on the Future of Financial Services, the Future of Money and the Disruption of our current Banking and Monetary Systems.
