Core Banking Provider Aura Cloud Launches Agentic Banking Solution at Stockholm Fintech Week

New technologies often mean swift and disruptive changes in any sector, as evidenced by the many fintech challenger banks and EMIs that have emerged in the last 15 years.

The latest technological breakthrough turning the world on its head is AI.

Aura Cloud, a cloud-native core banking provider, has taken this technology by the horns and developed an Agentic Banking solution, BankingCrew.

“Over the past decade, banks have invested heavily in digitalization, such as mobile apps, onboarding automation, API ecosystems, and improved customer interfaces,” says Tommi Lassila, Head of Partnerships and Expansion at Aura Cloud. “These initiatives modernized customer touchpoints but often left legacy cores intact. The result has frequently been fragmented operational awareness despite improved front-end experiences. Agentic AI changes this dynamic.”

Expanding the Toolbox to Make Banks More Efficient

Aura Cloud spent 1.2 million hours developing a next-gen core banking platform, Aura, that powers ambitious fintechs and banks in the Nordics and Baltics. It now brings the expertise to its agentic banking platform.

The company has always been visionary, says Tommi. “We talked about the financial sector moving to the cloud long before that went mainstream. Agentic banking sounds like hype, but this develops faster than anyone expects. In the end, banking is about moving digits, and AI is very well suited for this.”

Once again, the team is betting on cutting-edge innovation.

The BankingCrew platform functions as a management system where an “AI team leader” coordinates a team of specialist AI agents.

It is core-agnostic, meaning banks don’t have to rip out their existing core. The agentic platform sits on top of the underlying system to orchestrate workflows.

In practice, this means embedding AI agents into operational workflows and enabling contextual decision support across banking functions to enhance automation, all while maintaining governance and control.

The platform’s initial real-world use case focus is SME banking, automating customer onboarding, enhancing credit scoring, and handling risk management tasks with pre-built connectors to credit information, open banking, and open accounting data.

“The agents are pre-trained in banking and core banking, and we’ll initially focus on business banking because this is the area where there’s more manual work. Our company’s mission has always been to make banks more efficient. BankingCrew is an additional toolbox besides our efficient Aura core,” says Tommi. “BankingCrew takes that efficiency to the next level, allowing for intelligent, adaptive, and increasingly autonomous banking.”

AI Will Commoditize. Execution Will Differentiate.

The agents are pre-trained in compliance frameworks, and the system will provide full audit trails for every action. At pre-determined escalation points, the agentic solution hands over control to a human.

“It’s not a black box solution,” says Tommi. “You’ll have better auditability with the platform than when dealing with a human.”

“Moving toward agentic banking is a new beginning for the industry. Utilizing an AI team leader to manage specialist AI agents is quite different from the traditional way of running banking processes, says Tommi, and it will require out-of-the-box thinking from banks to fully realize its potential. “Execution will differentiate.”
