Lithuania’s best fintech companies selected, fintech map of the country unveiled

The representatives of the Fintech sector and their achievements were honored at the fourth consecutive “Lithuanian Fintech Awards”. The companies that presented their success stories competed in the seven categories. “Paystrax”, provider of modern payment services, triumphed in the main category – “Fintech Company of The Year”, according to a press release.

According to Lina Žemaitytė-Kirkman, Head of the “Rockit” Centre for Financial Technologies and Sustainable Innovations, which organizes the awards, this annual event provides an opportunity to assess how fast the Lithuanian Fintech sector is maturing and improving.

“The country’s Fintech community has been growing steadily for several years now – we are approaching the 300–company mark. The sphere of services provided by the industry is also expanding – we have already divided companies into 10 different categories for these awards. Therefore, every year it becomes more and more difficult to select the best of the best, which only proves how rapidly Lithuanian Fintech ecosystem is improving and strengthening”, says L. Žemaitytė-Kirkman.

The 2024 Awards jury consisted of 18 members, including representatives from “Fintech Future”, the Lithuanian and Estonian branches of “Swedbank”, and the heads of the Latvian and Estonian Fintech associations. The jury was also joined by representatives of the international media, Lithuanian Fintech market experts from the Ministry of Finance, the Bank of Lithuania, and international accelerator “Plug&Play”.

“Paystrax”, a provider of modern payment services, was named the Company of The Year for its contribution to the lending and investment markets and its support for growing businesses.

“Super How?” was named the Fintech Innovation of The Year – the company has won the award in this category for the second time in its history. According to “Super How?” co-founder Andrius Bartminas, their goal is to create value through innovative solutions, and the entire Fintech ecosystem sees this.

“Last year, we launched an innovation service that is still relatively new, because we want to make it easier for even large or public companies to innovate. Our country does not have special natural resources, but it can be proud of creative and talented people, and innovation and technology are indeed Lithuania’s strength” says Bartminas.

“Amlyze”, a start-up providing automated anti-money laundering solutions, was presented as the winner of the Fintech Enabler of the Year category, which was open to companies in the fields of cyber-security, Insurtech, Regtech, analytics, big data, identity, financial software, and other related areas.

The Fintech Impact of the Year award went to the crowdfunding platform “Heavy Finance”, while the Fintech Growth Story of the Year Award was given to the funding platform “smeGo”. Meanwhile, the electronic payment company “Paysera” once again received the most votes from the public after a year break.

In addition to companies, the jury of the Lithuanian Fintech Awards also recognized one person who has contributed the most to the development of Lithuanian Fintech sector and the strengthening of the community last year. Gintarė Bačiulienė, Head of the Technology Sector Team at “Invest Lithuania”, was named Fintech Leader of the Year. According to her, the strong ecosystem ties are one of the keys to the success of Lithuanian Fintech.

“I am glad that our efforts and work in representing Lithuania in international events and publications, attracting foreign investors, and publishing the annual review of the Lithuanian Fintech sector have been noticed and appreciated. This award is not only my recognition, but also the recognition of all “Invest Lithuania” colleagues and associates of the Lithuanian Fintech ecosystem. Therefore, I am particularly pleased that our purposeful joint work in growing sector and raising its profile in the world is reflected not only in the awards, but also in the results,” says G. Bačiulienė.

In addition to numerous awards and accolades, the Lithuanian Fintech Awards, which took place for the fourth year in a row, also presented the one of its kind – the Lithuanian Fintech Map. It categorizes all 277 Lithuanian Fintech companies into 10 different categories – payments, digital banking, savings and investments, lending, etc.
